Installing the Reference Manager APA 6th style and setting the field types to include fields used in APA 6th

Reference Manager 10, 11, and 12

1. Click here to download the package file for the APA 6th update for Reference Manager.
   The file contains:
   • APA 6th cited pages.os
   • APA 6th.os
   • Sample-APA6th.rmx
   • Sample-APA6th.rmd
   • Default.def
   • APA6th Matrix.doc
2. Unzip the files to a temporary location on your hard drive.
3. Copy the style files (APA 6th cited pages.os and APA 6th.os) to the following folder for Reference Manager 10, 11 and 12 (note this path may be a shortcut in version 12)
   C:\Program Files\Reference Manager *\Styles\
   Or
   C:\Program Files\Reference Manager * Network\Program\Styles
   Where * is the Reference Manager version number.
4. Next, you will need to update the Reference Types. Note: These steps will replace your current Reference Types. Open Reference Manager.
5. Go to the File menu and choose "Open Database”.
6. Choose one of your existing Databases.
7. If there is an "Access rights " pulldown menu at the bottom of the Open Database window change it to "Read Write Exclusive.”
8. Click the Open Button.
9. Go to the Tools Menu and choose "Field and Type Edit."
10. At the bottom of the window click the "Copy" button.
11. Set the Source database by clicking on the "..." button and Browse to the copy of the "Sample-APA 6th.rmd" file.
12. Set the Target database by clicking on the "..." button and Browse the database you currently have open.
13. Click "Copy."
14. If you would like this to be the default database definition for future new databases, click the "Set Default" button.
15. Click "Ok."
16. To add the reference types to additional databases, Open the database in Read Write Exclusive mode, and go to the "Tools" menu and select "Field and Type Edit." Click the "Get Default" button, and choose "User defined" and click OK.
